Charly Jones

Tuesday November 8, 2010
Charly Jones, president and owner of Merlyn and Associates, a company he founded to address midrange issues will be demystifying the mysteries of IBM® Rational® Open Access. Merlyn and Associates consults throughout the world on advanced system performance and work management issues. Charly has been very active in COMMON and was a technical editor for Penton Media, specializing in advanced midrange techniques and issues. Charly has worked very closely with IBM Rochester on a variety of AS/400 issues since the system's inception.
Charly will be discussing IBM Rational Open Access - RPG edition, including a survey of what is possible today using ROA, and his own personal view of what it may enable in the near ( and near distant ) future.
For those members who are not interested in doing things that don't map very well to the tried and true RPG and DDS approach to application development, Charly is prepared to expand the discussion to address C, PHP, SAA, Java, and Ruby on Rails.

Thank you
Membership:
We are very fortunate to end the year with one of the true legends in the IBM midrange world, Mr. Charly Jones. It was over 25 years ago, I first met Charly at a Cascade User Group meeting. It's a wonderful feeling to see that the Cascade User Group continues to build on a long, and succesful history.
It has been a difficult year, filled with success and disappointments for our organization. It is time to elect a new Board of Directors and it is my greatest hope to have the operations in order to allow the new board to better provide the membership with contining improving service and education.
In the next days, you all will receive a survey designed to help the board better target the needs of the membership and potential membership. It will include the capibility to nominate new members to the Board. Please take it seriously and do not be shy about nominating yourselves as officiers.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve the Group this last year and I look forward to seeing you all in November!
